This gorgeous set includes complementing lipstick, lip gloss and lip pencil that can all be worn alone or layered and kept in this cute little gold pouch.

RRP: $47 AUD
From Mecca

This lip set is gorgeous and such great value given the wear you will get out of it.

Each lip product is wearable alone. The lipstick has a satin finish so it's perfect for every day wear and quite long lasting. The lip liner is soft and creamy so it doesn't drag along your lips, you could easily wear this alone for a subtle hint of colour with a little balm on top.
The lip gloss has a nice shine factor without that sticky feel and it doesn't have an unpleasant taste, there is a hint of peppermint.

The shades included are
Lipstick - Take Charge
Lipgloss - Trail Blazer
Lip Liner - Liberated

From top to bottom: lipstick, lipgloss and liner

With flash

Where this lip set really shines, is when you layer these three all together and you create that pulled together look, perfect for going from the office to cocktails.

The Best of Australian Beauty

To celebrate Australia Day, I've searched through my collection to bring you some of my favourite Australian beauty products. (and a few cheeky New Zealand brands because nothing is more Australian than taking something great from the kiwis and pretending it's Australian)

Trilogy (Ok, technically this is from New Zealand)
I have gone through countless bottles of the Certified Organic Rosehip Oil. I love Rosehip oil and have found for the price, quality and availability, Trilogy make the best.
I use this once a week at night for a treat. I smother my face in this after a deep clean and wait a few minutes before putting on a little night cream. The unique scent will take a while to get used to but it doesn't clog my pores and I wake up glowing.
The Make-up Be Gone Cleansing Balm is a great way to remove your face when you're loaded up with make-up and want to break it down as quickly as possible. It's definitely a different way of cleansing but great for those days when your skin is feeling a little dehydrated.

Vita Skin Sugar C Rush Scrub
The Vita+Skin range from Sugar Baby includes 100% organic coconut oil. This has Himalayan sea salt and raw sugar to aid exfoliation, as well as organic coconut oil to help retain moisture.

Alpaha-A Liquid Gold Mask
This brand has quickly become a cult favourite for a reason - Instant results!
The brand focuses on active ingredients, I have tried several products from this brand and find they all do exactly what they say they will.
This soothing and perfecting mask is a quick and intense mask for when you can't decide if you want brightening, exfoliating or clarifying because it does it all.

Klara Cosmetics Zero Pores Primer
I have only recently discovered this brand and started off with the exfoliator and if this primer is anything to go by, I cannot wait to try the rest of the range.

A'Kin Revitalising Cellular Radiance Serum
I love that this Aussie made and owned brand is cruelty free. Adding a serum to your skincare regime will change your skin. If you haven't yet tried a serum, start with a light formula designed to brighten your skin, it's a sure fire way to become addicted to serums.

Innoxa Organic Brightening Eye Creme
I'm always up for anything that claims it can brighten the eye area, I am prone to dark circles and this eye cream doesn't irritate my eyes and leaves them feeling nicely hydrated without the heaviness of some eye creams. I've yet to see any major difference with my dark circles but it can't hurt, right?

Australis
Was there anyone who didn't dive on this AC on tour Contouring and highlighting kit when it was first released? It was an affordable doupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit and while this isn't quite the same quality, you can't beat the price and it's a great way to brush up on those contour skills before you make the big investment in a higher end brand.
Let's Go Steady Gradual Tan Moisturiser is great for those as scared of fake tanning as I am. I'm naturally very pale and the phrase "fake tanning" give me flash backs to my orange attempts to fit in with my bronzed friends in high school. This is a mosituriser that will darken your skin slightly over a few uses and will build up a slight tan. Love it!

Lipstick Queen
Dedicated completely to lipstick, this brand was created by Aussie Poppy King. The quality is amazing, the shades are original and Saint Rose in one of my favourites. Lipstick Queen is one of the few brands where the darker shades suit my pale skin.
Frog Prince is amazing, it looks green in the tube and then adjusts to your lip colour giving you a rosy signature pout that nobody else will have.

Face of Australia
FOA is such an affordable brand with so many options. Nail polish is one of my obsessions so I jumped to try this Dark Side Nail polish in Mystique.
I adore the little blush pots in Hello Dolly and O Peachy! They have a touch of shimmer in them to add a little sparkle to your summer look and although you have to build the pigment a little, I enoy the the no fuss approach, as you can't make a mistake with these.

Kester Black Nail Polish in Arm Candy
If you haven't discovered this fun range of nail colour, head to AdoreBeauty.com to see all the colours this recently launched brand has in stock. Two coats is enough for opaque coverage and I find I get a decent wear out of these. The top coat is super shiny too!

Mecca Cosmetica
I have loved everything I have tried in the Mecca Cosmetica range so far. I love the simple chic packaging and the mini trial sizes available but my hands down favourite is the To Save Face SPF range - If you have trouble finding a sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast or leave your skin greasy, you NEED to try this.
This is the ONLY sunscreen I have tried that doesn't leave me greasy (and I've tried a lot). The best thing by far about Mecca is the return and exchange policy, click here to read the low down but basically - if you don't like it, you can return or exchange it, even if it's used! Take THAT Sephora! To my knowledge Mecca is one of the only beauty company's in Australia to offer such a return policy and I think it speaks volumes about the brand, staff and their confidence about the products.
Hands On Transforming Hand Cream and To Save Eyes SPF30 Hydrating Eye cream are my top picks from this brand.

Face Of Australia
Screen Siren Nail Polish in No Angel is a really pretty nude/blush shade that would suit any skin tone.
Colour Max Eye shadow palette in nude is fast becoming one of my favourites, affordable and blend able. I could easily take this with me away on a holiday and be happy with this one little palette.

Trilogy Mineral Radiance Mask
One of the best all-rounder masks I have tried. A little goes a long way and this is perfect for when you just want to relax with a little spa session and not have to worry about timing or drying, you can just sit back and relax and take it off when you feel like it. My skin feels clean and soft when I take it off and it's a great little pick me up treat.

Napoleon Perdis
Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer is one of the brands best sellers and great for dryer skin types and those who want a little dewy look.
If you want to go for the total opposite of subtle (and let's face it, Napoleon don't do subtle) this Loose Eye Dust in Bronze Ambition is going to do it for you! This pure glitter is not for the faint of heart or time poor. This takes a while to apply and you have to have the right occasion but it makes such a statement that you should try it at least once.

Australis Metallic Finish Eye shadow
These limited edition foil colours were such a hit, the brand made them part of the permanent collection. Once you get the hang of how to apply these creamy shimmery pots of fun you will find it hard to no buy the whole collection and they hold up to their more expensive counterparts. Pictured is

Jay Zed, Plum Diddy and Bronzonce.

Natio
Mineral Eyeshadow Trio in Illuminate and Bush and Bronze in Rosy Glow.
These two gorgeous palettes are easy to apply and flattering, the texture is soft and easy to blend, you can't go wrong with these for an everyday look.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop

Possibly the most anticipate make-up product of the 2015, this highlighter was launched this year as a collaboration between Aussie brand Becca and YouTube beauty guru Jaclyn Hill. This was the fasted selling product on launch day in US Sephora's history and even though Aussies had to wait longer for our turn (even though Becca is Australian, what the?) It was worth the wait and is definitely a stand out product, especially for fair skinned girls who can't seem to get that highlight right.

Napoleon Perdis Skin Renewal Cleansing Oil
A light cleansing oil that will break down that heavy make-up in a gorgeous chic bottle, it's hard to go back to regular cleansing once you have tried the double cleanse. It's a must to break down product on your face.

Mecca Cosmetics To Save Face SPF30 Sunscreen
This sunscreen is my ultimate, my hero, my holy grail ... do you see where I'm going here? I have never found a better sunscreen, this protects my skin, absorbs quickly and doesn't leave a greasy film.

Innoxa Super Sensitive Oil Free Toner
This toner is perfect if your irritated by regular toners. Gentle and I use this after a facial to remove any left overs that I haven't washed off.

Kester Black Top and Base Coat
2 in 1? Yes please! I can double up with this top and base coat and this leaves a shiny top coat and helps my mani stay that little longer

Dr Lewinn's Essentials Bio-Care Oil
A huge bottle of goodness that can be used on scars, stretch marks and dry skin. I love that this bottle seems bottomless and I can support an Australian brand.

Coco Marie Linen Spray
I stumbled into a skincare boutique in Hahndorf, Adelaide. The smell of the store was intoxicating and I ended up walking out with a bag full of their linen sprays. The French Pear scent is fresh and crisp and I use this on my sheets, towels and lounge.

Tip Tuesday: How to keep your hair healthy while swimming

Every Tuesday I bring you a lifestyle or beauty tip to hopefully make your life a little easier.

How to keep your hair healthy while swimming

Chlorine and salt water can damage your hair but who wants to avoid the ocean while everyone else is splashing around and having fun?

One of the easiest ways to avoid your hair soaking up all that chlorine is to wet your hair before you dive in the pool. Just take a moment to step under the shower before you go for a swim and your hair will soak up more H2O, leaving less chance for your strands to soak up chemicals.

You can take it a step further buy running conditioner or coconut oil through your wet hair before you go for a swim, this will create a temporary barrier between your hair and all the nasties that can cause damage.

Happy Swimming!

Hair and Skincare Empties

John Frieda Radiant Red Colour Protecting Shampoo 250ml
RRP: $15.99 from Priceline

Repurchase? No
I'm usually a fan of John Frieda products but this coloured shampoo left my hair with a light pinkish tone. It just wasn't pigmented enough. One positive of this shampoo, was that this didn't dry out my hair like a lot of coloured shampoos.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil 60ml
RRP: $11.00 from Mecca Maxima

Repurchase? Yes
This stuff is incredible! This is the mini size from Mecca (those minis are addictive!) and just as this little bottle started to feel empty, I ran to Mecca to buy the full size. I always need some sort of hair oil or after wash product to keep my fluffy and frizzy hair calm but a lot of products weigh my fine hair down. This has a really fine spray and gives me just enough moisture without the weight.

Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator 250ml
RRP: $27.95 from Priceline

Repurchase? Yes
This what I call the "Cinderella effect" I did see instant results and my hair felt amazing but the next wash my hair was back to it's original state. I think for the price there are much more effective treatments but this is great for when you need a quick pick me up and a nice softening effect.

David Jones Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner 60ml
RRP: $15.95 for 500ml from David Jones

Repurchase? No
I received these in a gift with purchase promotion and while I think they are good for short term use, such as a holiday, I just don't think they were repairing enough to use long term. These may be great for somebody with very oily hair but my hair is slightly damaged and needs a little more TLC.

Aesthetica Silky and Smooth Exfoliating Body Scrub 100ml
RRP: from Nad's Laser Clinic

Repurchase? No
I was talked into buying this while I was visiting Nads for some laser hair removal, (aside from the fact that I actually stopped going before my course of laser was finished because the staff are constantly pushing products and more treatment) this exfoliating product was far too harsh and dry for my skin. It felt like I was rubbing sandpaper over my legs and there isn't enough oil or creaminess in this product to allow easy application. I ended up mixing this with a body oil just to use it up and still had to be light handed as this easily scratched my skin.

Tip Tuesday: How to revive your nail polish

Every Tuesday I bring you a lifestyle or beauty tip to hopefully make your life a little easier.

How to revive your dry and thickened nail polish

From time to time your nail polish may get thick and gluggy or dry up. Instead of tossing your favourite shade, try adding a drop or two of nail polish remover into the bottle and shaking vigorously.

You can even find nail polish thinner from OPI.

Your nail polish should be easier to apply and you will get a few more uses out of your favourite hue.

The best beauty at The Golden Globes

My favourite beauty looks from the Golden Globes

Lily James
Lily James
Can we talk about how stunning this princess is?
The Cinderella star looked beautiful on the red carpet, her make-up was perfectly done, subtle and flattering. Her hair was perfectly undone while still looking shiny and smooth. Her sheer gown with a touch of cleavage was elegant and sexy.
Her light pink lip, smokey copper eyes and ever so slightly peachy blush gave her a glowing look that kept her young. This is not an event she will look back on and cringe in years to come. Understated, classic and perfection.
My favourite look of the night.

Olivia Palermo
Olivia Palermo
I love this fun and colourful take on glamour. Olivia is always on trend before it's a trend, so I'm predicting bright lips and rose gold eyes this year. Her highlighting and contour is on fleek (yeah, I said it) and I love how she pulled her hair back and forwent earrings to let that necklace and her pop of colour steal the show.
Alicia Vikander
Alicia Vikander
This Swedish actress came out of nowhere to steal the show on the red carpet. Her delicate features were complimented with subtle copper eyes, a hint of pink on her lips and those perfectly groomed brows.

Trend Alert: Pull it back!

Kate Bosworth
Sophia bush
I love how Kate and Sophia kept their hair chic and tight! So many actresses were pulling off the humble pony tail, giving the hairstyle that we can all manage a new boost of popularity. I'm guessing this trend will no longer be reserved for second day hair and the gym. Pull it back ladies and work it!

Trend Alert: Matchy-matchy

Jada Pinkett Smith
Olivia Wilde
From the jewels, to the gown and eye-shadow, Jada and Olivia matched every detail and I think it worked. The Golden Globes is such a glamorous yet fun event, I think a glamorous and over the top event like this is the time to match it all.

Trend Alert: I see Red!

Amy Adams
Barbara Meier
Bryce Dallas Howard
Julianne Moore
Sarah Hay
How many stunning redheads were on the carpet? I lost count of how many Auburn tresses were present. I guess all the redheads that were bullied in school can now own it and I will continue to pay my hair stylist big bucks to pretend I'm a natural redhead! In total envy.

And the totally unfair award goes to ....

Rose Huntington-Whiteley
This Victoria Secret model/actress/face of Burberry never has a bad day. How does she consistently look so amazing? She had that "just got engaged glow", a simple bronze eye and tousled hair. She knows what works for her and rarely strays from her signature look. Then again, if it ain't broke ...

Tip Tuesday: How to clean your make-up sponges

Every Tuesday I bring you a lifestyle or beauty tip to hopefully make your life a little easier.

How to clean your make-up sponges

A lot of people have reservations about using sponges due to bacteria build up. A simple way to make sure your sponges stay clean is to zap them in the microwave.

After you've cleaned your beauty blender with a brush cleaner or baby shampoo, place the sponge in a small dish of water and zap in the microwave for 30 seconds.

It will be really hot when you take it out, so be careful but it will make sure all the bacteria is gone.

Product Showdown: The Wet Brush vs Aqua Tangle Teezer

De-tangling your hair after a wash is essential for easy styling but wet hair can be susceptible to breakage as it's weaker than dry hair. Using your usual hairbrush on your wet hair is a sure fire way to end up with knots, broken hair and split ends.
Combing your conditioner and treatments through your hair can also help you to distribute the product evenly to avoid build-up, so what can you do?

There are two brushes on the market designed for wet hair and claim to effortlessly glide through hair to help keep wet hair protected. Both brushes have cult followings, so I decided to put them both to the test and see which is the winner.

The Wet Brush Vs The Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash

The Wet Brush
$13.95 from Bellabox

The Wet Brush in Purple

What it is: The technology behind this brush is based on the "IntelliFlex" bristles which claim to slide through any type of hair - wet, dry, curly, straight and knotted. The bristles are flexible enough to bounce back and the end of the bristles are supposed to massage your scalp.

Celebrity fans: Vanessa Hudgens, Kendall Jenner

The verdict : The brush is light and does glide through wet hair (not seamlessly though) and when it comes to knots - this hasn't worked with my hair, I have had to pull the scissors out twice with this because I just could not get a knot out and had to chop it out!
I have medium length fine hair that just hits my shoulders and while wavy, usually doesn't get too knotty.
While this is really affordable I don't see much difference between this and other cushion brushes you can buy from any chemist. I also find it a little odd that this brush is designed for wet hair but the base is able to soak up water easily and takes forever to dry.

The Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash
$28.00 from ASOS

The Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash in Pink Shrimp

What is it: This brush was originally pitched on a 2007 episode of "The Dragons Den" and rejected by the dragons as a bad investment. The brush is waterproof and designed to be used in the shower to comb through product and also after your shower to de-tangle any knots. The short bristles are flexible and the brush is designed to fit in your hand in slippery conditions.

Celebrity fans: Kate Middleton, Cara Delevingne and Emma Watson

The Verdict: When I first saw the Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash, I was a little worried. The base is rubbery and all I could think about was this ripping through my hair but it actually glides through like silk. I have used this both in and out of the shower and I love it. There is no tugging and I've never met a knot I couldn't work through. I've been able to brush through treatments and conditioners in the shower and I love how this feels on my scalp. This dries within a few minutes and is easy to keep clean.

The Winner Is
The Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash!

The two brushes are very different but designed to do the same thing and I think the Tangle Teezer does it better. This is the brush I reach for the most. It's now available in store at Priceline and Sephora and I find even the dry version leaves my hair less fluffy and with no static. I'm in love!
